The Legend

Badrinarayan on the Alaknanda

Vishnu is worshipped here as Badrinarayan, in the Nara-Narayan form. The tradition says Vyasa worked on the Mahabharata in these valleys. Sadhus still winter in caves nearby when the temple closes.

Neelkanth rises behind the coloured facade. After Tapt Kund, we take you in for darshan, then to Mana if time remains.

How To Reach

The Motor Road To Badrinath

Dehradun

Air and rail gateway we use for the full Char Dham. From here the road runs via Haridwar and the prayags.

Joshimath

Winter seat of the deity and our usual halt before the last climb to Badrinath.

Govindghat

Alaknanda roadside town. We pass it on the way up; Hemkund groups split here.

Badrinath

Park near the temple. Bath at Tapt Kund, then darshan. We hold the return to Joshimath or onward as booked.
